Chengappa (or Chennagappa) Bridge is the longest and most significant bridge in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, spanning the Austen Strait to connect Middle and North Andaman. Named after forestry officer B. S. Chengappa, this reinforced‑concrete structure stretches approximately 268 m and is supported by 12 piers, carrying a 7.5 m-wide roadway of precast girders and cast-in-place concrete. Built as a key part of the Andaman Trunk Road network, the bridge dramatically enhances connectivity—before its construction, vehicles relied on ferries to traverse between the islands . Its scenic positioning over the Austen Strait also makes it a popular stop for panoramic photos.
