The Kalpong Hydroelectric Project, also known as the Kalpong Dam, is the only hydroelectric facility in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Located on the Kalpong River at Nabagram near Diglipur in North and Middle Andaman, it was commissioned on 1 September 2001, fifteen months ahead of schedule This dual-structure dam comprises a 34 m-high concrete gravity dam on the left fork and a 27 m-high rock-fill dam on the right, forming a reservoir spanning 1.84 km² and storing approximately 15.27 million m³ of water . The power house contains three 1.75 MW Francis turbines, giving a total installed capacity of 5.25 MW and generating around 14.83 million units (MU) annuall
