Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati in the morning and drive to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya (approx. 3-4 hours drive). On the way, enjoy the scenic beauty of rolling hills and lush valleys. Arrive in Shillong and check-in at the hotel. Spend the evening exploring Ward’s Lake or take a walk around Police Bazaar, Shillong’s lively market area. Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, head for a day of sightseeing in Shillong. Visit the Shillong Peak, the highest point in the city, offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Explore the serene Elephant Falls, the picturesque Don Bosco Museum, and Lady Hydari Park. You can also visit the beautiful Shillong Golf Course if time permits. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Post breakfast, drive to Cherrapunji (approx. 2-3 hours), one of the wettest places on Earth. Visit the stunning Nohkalikai Falls, the Mawsmai Cave, and the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat Village. After exploring Cherrapunji, drive towards Mawlynnong Village, Asia’s cleanest village, and spend the night there. Take a walk around the village and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Begin the day by visiting the Living Root Bridge in Mawlynnong, followed by a visit to Dawki, located near the Bangladesh border. Enjoy a boat ride on the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. In the afternoon, drive back to Shillong, with an optional stop at Umiam Lake to enjoy the serenity of this beautiful water body. Return to the hotel for the night.
After breakfast, take a scenic drive to Mawphlang, known for its sacred forest and rich flora and fauna. Explore the Mawphlang Sacred Forest, a protected site known for its biodiversity. Later, visit Smit Village, known for its traditional Khasi culture and architecture. Return to Shillong by evening, where you can relax and enjoy a leisurely evening at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati (approx. 3-4 hours). On the way, stop by the famous Kamakhya Temple, one of the holiest sites for Hindus. Once in Guwahati, enjoy some free time for shopping or exploring the local markets. Stay overnight in Guwahati.
After breakfast, depending on your departure time, you can explore more of Guwahati or head to the Guwahati Airport for your onward journey, marking the end of this unforgettable Meghalaya tour.
