Elephant Beach is one of the key attractions located on Havelock Island, in Andaman and Nicobar. Elephant Beach is located close to Havelock Island, and since Havelock doesn’t have an airport of its own, you will first need to reach Port Blair, and then take a ferry or a boat to Havelock Island.
By Air: Veer Savarkar International Airport, also known as the Port Blair Airport is located close to the town center, and one can easily take a ferry from Port Blair to Havelock upon reaching.
By Boat: You will need to take a ferry from Port Blair to Havelock first, and the journey takes around 70 kilometers, or one and a half hours to complete. From the Havelock Dock, you can take another boat, and in twenty minutes, you will reach the Elephant Beach. These boats travel on a frequent and regular basis, so you don’t have to worry about missing a boat and not making it to the beach.
By Road: Upon reaching Havelock Island from Port Blair by ferry, you can choose to ditch the boat and take a beautiful walk to the beach. The path of the walk is surrounded by lush green trees that provide shade and make this walk a very pleasant experience.
The Andaman and Nicobar islands are blessed with a tropical climate that is enjoyable for the most part of the year. If you are someone who loves bright sunny weather, then you can opt for visiting in the summer season, from the month of April to the month of June, till the rains start.
Another great time to visit the Elephant Beach is during the winter season, from the months of November to March, and this is also considered to be the best to visit the Andaman Islands. What makes this the best time to visit is that the climate is really pleasant and cool, but still sunny enough to be able to soak in the rays of the sun. Being the peak season, it is also the most expensive time to visit the beach.
The offseason for the beach is during the monsoon season, during the months of June to November. The beach is mostly closed for visitors during this period and no ferries travel during these months. You can always choose to walk to the beach, but there won’t be much to do at the beach due to the rain, and most of the shacks will be closed too.
