Each room entails two beds - queen size (60"*78") bed and single size (42"*78) bed. Each room accommodates at least 2 pax. The rooms are designed in an ethnic Tharu design - wooden room with naturally air-conditioned. We look forward to welcoming you to our oasis in the heart of Chitwan National Park. .

Tharu Community

Tharu people traditionally inhabit around water bodies and near forest patches. Therefore, their food ecosystem composed of triangular composition - agriculture - forest and water. The sources of foods are both agriculture.

Food culture:

forest and water bodies (river, pond and lakes etc). Therefore, indigenous Tharu people are rich in foods and food culture. One of the reason for being rich in food is that Tharus live in territories with rich in bio-diversity.

We welcome all ages! Our beautifully laid-out grounds house a restaurant famed for its Botswana beef oxtail stew and guests can dine below the vast African sky. 

Enjoy a continental or English breakfast buffet before hitting the road and choose from the a la carte menu of sandwiches, burgers and steaks for lunch at the Wild Bird Terrace.



Our facilities include Wi-Fi, electricity, a swimming pool, a well-stocked gem of a gift shop, plus a vibrant bar and lounge area that brims with travel tales from overlanders and road trippers starting or ending epic adventures.

Set in lush gardens amidst mokolwane palms, you can safely walk across the lodge looking for Meyer’s parrots, grey-headed bushshrikes, duikers and more.

The THARU ETHNIC RESORTcampsites have clean, spacious amenities set amid a luxuriant oasis of marula, monkey thorn and indigenous palm trees. Don’t forget to look out for the adorable lesser bushbabies that swing through the forests at dusk as you sit around the campfire.

Our stylish ablutions offer hot showers and flushing toilets — a luxury after camping wild in Botswana’s national parks! There is a centralised power bank if campers require electricity (24-volt power points fit the standard South African three-pin round plug). Most stands have a cement base for the braai and hard mopane firewood is for sale at reception.

The ample, well-established campgrounds can accommodate 150 people spread across several level acres and the sites are not numbered.

Bird watchers simply love our lodge and can see plenty of species from the comfort of the pool deck, bar or breakfast table. We often enjoy visits from Southern yellow-billed hornbills, pied and arrow-marked babblers, glossy starlings and paradise whydahs.

THARU ETHNIC RESORToffers daily three-hour sunset drives in open game drive vehicles to support the community-run reserve. Most famous for its thriving flamingo population, the sanctuary is set in the mighty Makgadikgadi Salt Pan network with quality wildlife sightings over and above the 165 bird species recorded here.
